What Is Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA)?
Intelligent Speed Assistance is a driver-assistance system that uses road-sign recognition, map data, or both to identify the applicable speed limit. Depending on the vehicle configuration, it can provide visual, acoustic, vibration, accelerator-pedal, or speed-control feedback when the system detects that the vehicle may be exceeding the displayed limit.
ISA became mandatory for newly introduced EU vehicle types from July 2022 and for new cars sold in the EU from July 2024. The system is designed to remain overridable by the driver.
