How to get Apple CarPlay for your BMW? 

It is simple! First things first...

Most important step - check your software version  

To Check Firmware Version – Go to Navigation -> Press Options Button (next to your iDrive controller) -> Go to Settings -> Go to Position & Version History -> Check Version - You will see EVO / WAY.

If you have older version like NBT / PREMIUM / ROUTE - BMW CarPlay activation is NOT possible. We are happy to provide latest map update for your car so you can enjoy best maps experience.

BMW Apple CarPlay Activation for EVO version.

There are few ways to do that depending on your software version. 

NBTEvo_A,B,C,D,E,F,G needs ENET Cable, Windows PC (Mac with Bootcamp/Paralles is an option as well) and car charger/battery tender (you can also use another car running with jumper cables). You'll also need to plug WiFI antenna in the back of the headunit (for Wireless CarPlay connectivity). After purchase of our iDrive 6 FLASH package you'll receive files to download and a link to schedule a session. Whole session is done by one of our technicians and it takes roughly 50 minutes from start to finish. You'll end up with newer iDrive 6 and BMW Carplay Fullscreen. BMW Apple CarPlay Activation for WAY version.

Things are more complicated here. Some cars can have it, some can't. It depends on WLAN port (which is located in the back of the headunit). All US cars have it, while European and other regions requires checking via VIN or physically (use contact form to send us a VIN).

So best way for WAY version is to get in touch with us with your VIN - we'll send you which is the best way to go and we'll confirm availability of WLAN port.

 

I Don't have navigation in my car - can I still install Apple CarPlay in my BMW? 

In some cases, yes you can! Unit in cars produced in 2017/2018 and above is Entrynav2. Some units does have WLAN port and principle is the same like in WAY version (look above), that means all US cars have it and others requires checking. 

Also Entrynav2 requires software to be at I-Step/I-Level equal or above 18-03 - we can check that by VIN as well. Always send it us through chat or use our contact form.
